• The Daily Grind Gourmet Burgers @ Bangsar Village I

    Introduction:

We sometimes call it catch-up session and yet sometimes we name it coffee session. Be any of it, as long as it is with good companions, good food and good drinks, I am good. Not too demanding isn't it?

    Ambiance:

Red and black my favorite theme! Not too fancy with old school touch. Simple and nice.

    Food:

The restaurant serves gourmet burger and coffee. The food, service and environment fit the bill.

TDG Crabby Caesar Salad @ MYR 25.00++
A twist to the classic caesar salad with the addition of crisp fried soft shell crab. Rather rich salad, I say!

    TDG Dynamite Wings @ MYR 18.00 ++
Juicy crisp fried chicken wings smothered in TDG's top secret spicy dynamite sauce. Awesome!

Tarragon Mushroom Chicken Burger @ MYR28.00++

Creamy mushroom sauce with a hint of aromatic tarragon, rocket leaves and or course juicy chicken patty. The only thing I am very particular at most western food restaurants in Malaysia- the subsitution of original french fries with those cheaper ones. Cheaper ones as in potatoes mixed with sweet potatoes fries. Put it aside, just pisses me off from time to time!

My cup of cappucino @ MYR 9.00 ++ and Maddie's Chocolate Fudge Shake @ MYR 14.00++

    Wrap up:

Tell me, were these too much for two ladies in a catch-up session? Well, we needed a lot of energy to talk, you get what I mean? Anyway, cut the craps! The Daily Grind Gourmet Burger serves not only good burgers, the salad and appetizers are better than as desired. Besides coffee and burger, it's another place for happy hour too. Oh yes!- they have good reviews for their red velvet cake too!

    Tuna & Walnut Sandwich @ MYR 12.50

Sandwich made from toasted multigrain bread, served with fresh salad on the side and filled with one of a generous portion of tuna and walnuts. Surprisingly excellent!

Braised chicken served with mashed potato and steamed Vege @ MYR 15.90

This is the special of that day dish- check it out at the board.  Thick rich sauce with soft and tender chicken meat served with classic mashed potato. Heavenly tasty!

                                                Cappuccino @ MYR 7.50

The aroma, intense and unique taste of the cuppa does provide kick off to the lazy Sunday! Thanks to the Melbourne roasted and blended Super Brazil by Genovese!

  • Mods Cafe @ Jalan Tokong, Malacca

I always find it exquisitely beautiful to see people doing things they love to do with so much of passion and effort. I have been reading reviews on this cafe located at a narrow street in the Historical City of Malacca and it is in my to-visit list.

Cut it short, it's Mods Cafe and I visited the cafe last week! Here's a short write up.

Mods Cafe @ Jalan Tokong, Malacca

Coffee work station creatively decorated in a classic volkswagen van. Awesome!

There isn't hardly anything better than the smell of coffee. The atmosphere resembles a quaint coffee house one would find walking down the old streets. Step inside the shop, and you feel a sense of comfort with the light color tones furnitures, colorful wall decors, marbled floors and the smell of fresh-brewed coffee. And so, sit back, enjoy the music and sip away.

While sipping your coffee, do try their Tiramisu- extremely moist and spongy in texture, it's a very light cake with mocha tasting- Nice.

A good start for me on a gloomy Saturday morning! Coffee, art, passion and a characteristic owner makes a prefect combination of everything.

Love and coffee, they go so well together!

  • Fat Spoon Cafe @ Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya

    Introduction:

A unique restaurant hidden at the all time jam area- Damansara Utama but yet popular for it's food and concept.

    Ambiance:
The eestaurant offers a unique concept: quaint, warm old-school-classic-meets-contemporary space. The mismatching of the wooden tables, chairs and vintage furnitures with not overly decorated cafe creates a homey old style ambience. And the menu is presented in the "Peter & Jane" story book.

Fat Spoon Cafe @ Uptown Damansara, Petaling Jaya

    Food & Beverages

The restaurant serves authentic grandma recipe, which suits one's discerning palates. The menu covers Peranakan cuisine, Chinese cuisine as well as Malay and Western cuisine that has a rustic, home cooked flavour, which evokes a comforting familiarity. Besides that, Fat Spoon cafe is famous for its coffee as well.

    Homemade Popiah @ RM 7.90
The Chinese style popiah is famous for it's pork lard taste. But at Fat Spoon Cafe ( a pork free cafe) the popiah is prepared without pork lard. My thoughts -it would be good and I was wrong-Tasted good indeed!

    Cappuccino @ RM 7.90
    Passionly brewed. Aromatic!

Fried Mackerel & Gingerflower Salad @ RM 15.90
Served with a side of medium boiled egg and lemongrass soup. Very well marinated crispy fried mackerel. Honestly, that piece was just not enough! Simply appetizing!

    Nasi Kampung @ RM 14.90
Fat Spoon special platter with curry chicken, tamarind prawns, belacan long beans, salted egg and papadum served with steam rice.  Tasty thick curry gravy pairing with belacan long beans means awesome.

    Wrap up:

Love the quaint and laid back hippy ambiance. It's neither wildly innovative nor convulsively uproarious restaurant but it definitely offers a warm and cozy environment to chill and dine in for some good food or perhaps for some snacks and coffee.

    Cappucino Hot @ RM 9.00, Iced @ RM 10.00

Coffee with love is all you need to start the day!

Fresh Orange Juice @ RM 9.00
And yes! Am trying to be healthy. A glass of fresh OJ too!

Scramble egg on toast @ RM 18.00
Shall I categorise it as a luxurious combination for the scrambled eggs and salmon? Love the grainy and nutty toast too!

    Big Breakfast @ RM 18.00
    Toast, bacon/chicken/beef/pork sausagaes,baked beans,scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes/mushrooms.

Grilled Chicken served with tomatoes, green beans & balsamic vineger RM 18
Perfectly grilled with tenderness. Love the lingering taste of balsamic vinegar that complements well with the grilled chicken.

    Thai Chicken Satay @RM 15.00
Served with peanuts and Thai chilli sauce. Well marinated and grilled to perfection with decent tumeric taste.
